Songs of Praise at Alton

Songs of Praise came to Alton, Hampshire , home of Anna Chaplaincy, but there were no cameras this time… just more than a hundred, strong voices! Empowering women at 'Made in whose image?'

Guildford Baptist Church rang to the voices of nearly 300 women who gathered for this year’s BRF/ Woman Alive conference on Saturday 9 June. Keynote speaker and writer Jo Swinney unpacked the theme ‘Made in whose image?’, while Debbie Thrower, team leader of The Gift of Years, led workshops on ‘Coping with changing images of ourselves as we get older’ that were attended by more than 130 people. The changing rituals and customs associated with modern-day funerals are the subject of a training day on Funeral Ministry, 'Just put me in the bin: Contemporary challenges around ashes and bodies’ is on 26 June at the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire. Research into older churchgoers

The church and older people has been the subject of interesting research collated by Peter Brierley , whose article in a recent issue of the Church of England newspaper caught our attention.
