Messy Vintage at Blended Festival

Blended Festival

There was plenty of interest generated in Messy Vintage thanks to the National Fresh Expressions Conference, ‘Blended’, held at Ely Cathedral, Cambridgeshire this month. Charlotte Mckernan and her team from Loughton, Essex, helped people sample Messy Vintage with a workshop at the day conference.

We are grateful for the enthusiasm and expertise they brought to introducing the concept to delegates.

‘It seemed to go well!’ reports Charlotte. ‘We had just under 30 people and we were in a lovely warm, cosy room.

‘We spoke about how we do Messy Vintage at Loughton Methodist quite a lot. But obviously we said that it is a flexible way of doing church; we urged them to keep that in mind as they will know the best venue, day, time and the refreshments they can or would like to provide for their community.

‘We kept referring back to the five core values; Christ-centred, celebration, creativity, hospitality and open to all.’

We talked through the session and people left with the helpful hints sheet and a note of The Gift of Years webpage.’
