Determined first steps have been taken to establish Anna Chaplaincy in and around Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire. Thirty people attended a public meeting held at the Church of the Holy Spirit, Bedgrove, at the invitation of Tim and Jean Howlett from the local Baptist church and the Anglican Area Dean, the Revd David Williams.
The Howletts were first introduced to the concept in 2015 and have been drumming up local support, convinced that, as Jean said that evening, ‘God will do miracles through Anna Chaplaincy in this town’.
Debbie Thrower, Team Leader of The Gift of Years, spoke of how Anna Chaplaincy is spreading nationally, and outlined ways it would enhance existing provision for meeting the spiritual needs of men and women in later life in their particular locality.
A first meeting to form a steering group takes place on 26 January 2019, and anyone interested in knowing more, and offering support for the initiative, should email either Tim and Jean Howlett or Kathryn Trout.
The meeting in the new year will focus on next steps for all interested in developing ministry among older people in Aylesbury and the surrounding areas.
